We have been talking about this for months and the time has finally come! I can’t believe that Alexis and I are leaving for VIETNAM tomorrow!! We are super excited to see where this amazing opportunity brought to us through Coach for College will take us! A huge thank you shout out to everyone who has supported us in our fundraising and preparation efforts!! We wouldn’t be able to do this without you!
During spring training in Asheville, NC this March (we are both on UNC’s rowing team), Alexis and I found out that we were chosen for the same program and camp, and time has flown since then. We will be serving underprivileged youth as coaches and teachers, while also learning about Vietnamese culture and appreciating a different view of the world. Working in conjunction with Vietnamese college students, we will be teaching the middle schoolers academics, sports, and life skills. I am super excited to be teaching biology and coaching basketball! We have a wonderful 21 hours of flying ahead of us tomorrow (15 hours from Newark to Hong Kong, 6 from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City). Sooo if yall have any tips how to make this a bit more bearable, don’t hesitate to let us know 🙂 I can’t wait to embark on my first trip to Asia… and out of the country… and off the east coast! We will def keep yall posted on all of our new experiences anddd we would LOVE to hear about where ~~summer2k15~~ takes you!!
P.S. to all Carolina rowers, we caved in and decided to take the Malaria pills you so wisely advised us to take! 😉
